For students

Build something this week.

One challenge a week that needs nothing you do not already have. A way to keep a journal of what you tried. Three reads. No account, no sign-up.

this week's box

One constraint. One period. What the room already has.

Make something that tells you how much rain fell last night, using only what is in a pencil case and a kitchen.

Post what you made, including what did not work. The failed version is the interesting one.

The habit

Keep a journal of what you build.

The process journal is the point, more than the thing you made. Try, fail, fix, and write down what the fix taught you. The failures stay in; they are the interesting part.

Any notebook will do. Date each entry. Three lines is enough: what you tried, what happened, what you changed.

  1. tryBuild the first version before you are ready.
  2. failIt will not work first time. Write down how.
  3. fixChange one thing. Only one.
  4. learnWhat the fix taught you. That line is the project.

Start today. 3rd try, it worked

The honest part

Bring this to your school.

We work with schools, not individual students: a programme survives only when teachers run it. The person who can say yes is your principal.

You are allowed to knock on that door.

Questions

Honest answers.

Is this free?

Yes. No account, no sign-up, no paywall.

Can I join without my school?

We work through schools. On your own, today: build the week's box, keep a journal, and send us what you made. We reply to every one.

Do you sell kits to me?

No. We work with schools, not with students directly.

Can I put my work on this site?

Not yet. Email what you made to info@hankernest.com and we will write back.
