Why growing
Most school gardens are decoration: planted for a photograph, then left to the gardener. A growing programme is different because nothing can be hurried. A seed tray, six cells, measured every week with a ruler and a notebook. Same seeds, same water, not the same plants. Why?
That question, asked honestly and answered with the students' own readings, is the whole skill. It is also the form of work Kaushal Bodh calls work with life forms, and the one most schools find hardest to cover.

Classes 6 to 12
A biology or science teacher runs this well, and so does anyone who keeps a garden at home. What we train is the measurement habit: the same reading, the same way, every week, written down before anyone forgets.
The garden does not stop for exams, so the routine is designed so a class of twelve-year-olds can keep it alive with ten minutes a day.
Equipment
The least equipment of anything in the programme: seed trays, a few tools, soil, seeds and a measuring tape. If the school has a gardener, they become part of the programme rather than its replacement. CBSE's CSL equipment list is explicitly "suggestive", adoptable per readiness (Circular Skill-13/2026, 20.03.2026).
